Which gentleman is W. T. Farrar is not known but it is likely to be the older man with a beard. He was the son of James who ran the Red Lion. In the 1871 Census William aged 33 was working as a wheelwright and joiner employing two men and a boy.
The workshop was in the grounds of Rose Villa (Hambleton Court Care Home in 2023). When he died in 1921 he was the oldest Wesleyan Preacher in The Selby Circuit.
