3rd Annual Athletic Sports

Hambleton. ’The third Annual Athletic Sports will be held in a Grass Field near the Old Manor House, on Tuesday the 14th of June, 1881, when Prizes will be competed for as under:_
No. 1 – 120 yards Handicap Flat Race. 1st prize, Electro-plated and China Hand Painted Biscuit Box; 2nd E.P. Butter dish.
No. 2. – 250 yards Handicap Flat Race. 1st prize, Cowhide Gladstone Bag; 2nd, E.P. Cruet Stand.
No. 3 – 200 yards Handicap Flat Race, for Youths not exceeding 14 years of age. 1st prize solid silver Albert and Locket; 2nd Bat and Ball.
No. 4 – 440 yards Handicap Hurdle Race. 1st prize, Walnut Desk, Brass Bound, Secret Drawer; 2nd E.P. Spirit Flask.
No. 5 – Handicap Pole Jump. 1st prize, E.P. Inkstand; 2nd, New Plush Album.
No. 6 – High Jump. 1st prize, Nikel Silver Alarm Clock; 2nd Opera Glass in Case.
No. 7 – Potato Race, 50 yards/ 1st prize, 15/-; 2nd, 5/-.
No 8 – Consolation Race, E.P. Teapot.
The above races are open to all comers, Amateurs only except those named otherwise. The Entrance Fee for Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 is One Shilling for each event, or 2/6 the whole; No. 6, Sixpence.
All Competitors to state their last two performances and starts they had. The above \Prizes will be issued after the last event in the Evening.
N.B. All Entries to be made to the Secretary of Sports, or to Mr Webster, Red Lion, Hambleton; or Mr. J. Southwood, Griffin Inn, Selby. All Entries close on Saturday 11th June, at 7 p.m.
