Miss R. Berriman’s recipe for lemon curd published in 1925

The photograph which was copied from the booklet 230 Years of Methodism in Hambleton. The people in the photograph are Mr Walter Chilvers; Mr William Chilvers; Miss F. Palframan who became Mrs Walter Chilvers; Miss A. Palframan who became Mrs H. Trees and Miss R. Berriman who became Mrs William Chilvers.
In the Weslyan Church book dated November 1925 Miss Berriman’s recipe for Lemon Curd was published. The recipe was 1/4lb butter, 6 eggs, 1lb. loaf sugar, the rind of 2 lemons rubbed on the sugar and the juice of 3. Put into a pan and let the whole simmer until the sugar is melted. Stir for a quarter of an hour, and when it is the thickness of honey remove from the fire. When cool pour into small glass jars and store in a cool, dry place. The recipe has not been tried.
