On the October 1945 and 1946 Service Register, the qualifying date for which was 30th June his address was listed as Gateforth Road.
He may have joined the RAF in 1941 and have a service number of 1510812.
While at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire he met Betty Lidbury who was working on the camp. Alf worked as an aircraft fitter and as part of his service was sent to Singapore and India and he didn't come return home until 1946. He married Betty three weeks after he returned to England and they set up home in Hambleton.
Alf was born and brought up in Hambleton. Both Alf and Betty were very active in all aspects of village life and several of the photographs we have were taken or collected by Alf.
