House Champion Basket-ball team

Hambleton was the first school in the Selby & District section to organise a full programme for girls. Basket-ball was chosen as being the recognised game adopted by practically all girl secondary schools and as being the nation game of the girl students of the United States of America. As no other elementary schools in the district had adopted a game for girls, our games were confined to practice matches and house matches.
A dry winter gave plenty of opportunity of practice prior to the house matches being played. The Blacks had in G. Goldthorpe, A. Longfield, E. Waddingham and M. Clark, four of the best players in the school, consequently easily winning the house Championship. The Reds, although not strong individually have probably the best collective team, M. Paxton and V. Milner being the best.
