Edgar was born in 1930 to Albert & Blanche and his siblings were Leslie, Alfred, Charles Albert (Bert), Violet, Edith, Audrey and Alec. In 1951 he was listed as serving in the military where he spent some time in Hamm and Minden in Germany, his home address was listed as Chapel Street on the Electoral Register.
On 29th August,1955 he married Eunice Pauline Dixon, better known as Pauline. They lived with his parents for a few years before buying a smallholding in Thorpe Wood and becoming Market Gardeners.
