Old Police House

Like many villages Hambleton had a resident Police Constable. For a number of years they lived in East View Terrance but sometime in the 1950s the property now known as the Old Police House was built. The names of the PCs we have found so far include Joseph Darnborough (1901 census); John William Monkman (1911 census); (Arthur Eyatt (1927 Kelly’s Directory); James Elam (1939 register). George Arthur Williamson included on the Electoral Register for 1961, the qualifying date for which was October 1960 was listed as living in the Police House. As with all entries research continues and any information you might have would be appreciated.
