Chilvers & Palframan

The Company was formed in 1906. Prior to that John Palframan was listed in the 1853 Electoral Register as an occupier of a windmill, house and land Hambleton, Grey Carer field and Maspin Closes. There is a windmill shown on the 1851 map in the field on the opposite side of Mill Lane from Cherwell Croft.
In 1861 Mrs S. Palframan, widow of John, was listed as a Miller and Farmer.
The first names we have found so far for millers in Hambleton are Richard Carr and Henry Mason in the 1841 census despite there being a mill on the outskirts of the village in 1772.
Walter Chilvers married Florence Palframan in July 1925.
