Percy G. Lightfoot winner of the Holt Prize 1922

The Headmaster wrote ‘The work of our school is becoming known far and wide and though appreciation from within is very conservative others outside the old narrow sphere have shown their interest and appreciation of what has and is being done here in our little school. To Captain Holt, a gentleman with wide experience in the medical profession and who has for some time made a special study of physical culture and personal hygiene, the sports side of our school life has made a strong appeal for appreciation in a practical way. Quoting his words “nothing but good can come from sound practical teaching on these lines”.’ Captain H. Mainwaring Holt offered to award a prize annually. The teachers had to decide which of the boys or girls had shown the the best sporting spirit. The prize for 1922 was awarded to School boy Captain P. G. Lightfoot. The prize presented was a cricket bat. The picture was included in the 1st issue so it is unlikely that the bat he is holding is the prize.
