The Pigot’s Yorkshire 1834 Directory records, under the Coaches section – ‘To Selby & Hull the Royal Union, from the Bull & Mouth, Briggate, every morning (Sunday excepted) at five, and the White Horse, Boar Lane every afternoon at half-past four; goes through Garforth, Peckfield, Monk Fryston and Hambleton – and the Blucher, from the Hotel, Briggate, every morning (Sunday excepted) at five, arriving at Selby in time for the packets to Hull.’ Some details of a coach called the Prince Bulcher have been found but none, so far, about the two that ran between Leeds and Selby. The company may have been called the Original Coach. The 1822 Pigot’s directory also mentions the Bulcher from Leeds to Selby at 0600 to arrive in time to meet the Hull Packet but no mention of the places it called enroute.
