The first issue reviews the past two years of school life. The school was divided into 4 houses, Blues, Blacks, Whites and Reds. The school sports teams included netball, football, and cricket.
School Bank - The School Bank was officially opened on Monday 25th April, 1921. 34 children brought their pence and opened their own bank account. By the end of the summer term there had been 783 deposits totaling £32 10s 4d which the Yorkshire Penny Bank were far above the average school.
Sports - The girls netball team M. Goldthorpe, A. Longfield, V.Milner, O. Bickerdyke, E. Morrill, M. Paxton, M. Clark, D. Middleton and E. Craven.
The football team finished 3rd in the league of 6 teams. The team included P. Lightfoot, C. Parker, A. Backhouse, E. Hill, H. Clayton, A. Fligg, W. Longfield, D. Howie, S. Bainbridge, S. Saynor, A. Norton, W. Darley and F. Farr. The Cricket team who played on a field on the Main Road owned by Septimius Brown. At the Inter Schools matches they lost 6, won 4 and 2 were cancelled. The team included A.Fligg, E. Hill, W. Darley, A.Backhouse, H. Clayton, A. Norton, C.Parker, P. Leddy, P. Lightfoot, W. Longfield, S. Bainbridge and L. Goldthorpe.
They also held House Championships in Basket-Ball, Football and Netball won by the Blacks and Cricket which was won by the Blues.
The First Annual Excursion in 1920 was a trip to York when 27 children travelled by train. The Second Annual Excursion in 1921 was to Bridlington by ‘Chara’ leaving the school at 0700. The Chara did not get back to Hambleton until 2230 and was met by half the village.
Prize Day - The first School Prize Day was held on 8th April 1921 and all the prizes were donated by the staff Mr. J. F. Winterburn, Miss A. Goss and Miss H. M. Walker. Each Staff Prize were books to the value of £1 and for the others a single book. The winners were: Staff prize for girls E. A. Morrill; Staff prize for boys G. A. Norton; Std. VII E. A. Morrill, Std. VI G. A. Norton, Std. V V. A. Milner, Std. IV E. M. Walker, Std. III L. Milner, Std. II J. Stoker, Std. I I. Ransome, Infants Div. 1 J. Stoker, Infants Div. II L. Walker and Babies A. Brown.
