Garth House Farm

The history so far identified starts in 1798 when it was possibly owned by J. Dunnington. In 1896 the farm was put up for sale and the advertisement said that the tenant Septimus Brown would show people around. In 1919 Septimus Brown purchased the property from John Alexander Dunnington. In 1933 the farm was passed to Alfred and Mary Brown who sold to Gertrude Mary Smith in 1940. The property was sold again in 1948 and this time purchased by Samuel Jud Blacker a butcher. George Patterson of Hillside Farm became the owner in 1952 and remained so until 1958 when it was sold to William Millington at which time the homestead became a private dwelling.
