Beech Tree Farm

The history discovered so far starts in1798 when it was owned by Lord Petre. Andrew bought it from Lord Londesborough in 1908. In 1928 Elsie Waddingham, who lived there was among the readers to receive a gift from the Leeds Mercury. The executors of Andrew Anson’s estate let 44 acres of grass and 119 acres of arable land in 1934 also offered farm stock, implements and machinery for sale. The 1939 census show William and Murial Brumby plus Ada and Fred Hobson living there. The farm was owned by William, Percy, Tom and Fred Illingworth in 1940. Harold Bothroyd purchased the farm in 1946 and by William & Leonora Allinson in 1951. William and Florence Chilvers purchased the farm in 1955. Thomas and Constance Mould were living there in 1957 as the Gazette and Herald reported that Mrs Mould took in visitors, the picture was provided by one such visitor. The residents were reported to be the same in the 1960 census but it was no longer shown as a farm. The land continues, in 2018, to be farmed by the Thompson family of White House Farm.
