Hagg Bush Farm

The history discovered so far for Hagg Bush Farms starts in 1798 when it was owned by Robert Jenner. In 1849 the house and farm were rented by Robert Saynor for £50. A sale of the outlying parts of Lord Lonsboroughs estate in 1908 included Hagg House and Ruddings farms and the advertisement stated that the properties were let to Mrs Emma Stoker and C. P. Bussey and four others let to J. Middleton, R. Turner, D. Mitchell and T. G. Anson. All of good rich arable and grass land. Also homesteads and several small holdings of early potato. Hagg house was sold to John Thompson of Newton Garth, Thorpe Willoughby. The 1911 census shows Hagg Bush to be occupied Mr Stoker. By 1939 the farm was in Trust to the widow of John Thompson and James Harold Thompson. James and Caroline Thompson, Zachariah Illing, Richard and Mary Wilson were listed on the census. The 1960 census listed James Harold and Caroline Thompson as occupiers. In 1963 Mr Thompson sold Hagg Bush Farm to Elsie, George Raymond, Donald and Ken Parkin. George Raymond became the sole owner in 1981 and the farm is still worked by the Parkin Family.
