Harris Hartas Anson

Harris was a lieutenant in the 5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) and died 30th August, 1918 age 28. He is buried in Vis-enArtois British Cemetery, Haucourt. The son of Harris and Eliza Anson of Greystones, Hambleton. He is said to have joined the forces at the beginning of World War I. He served in Egypt for about two years. When he returned to England he was granted commission in 5th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment). He married Kathleen (Kitty) Margaret Berry on 6th March, 1918 and lost his life on 30th August, 1918 aged 28 years. He may not have known he was to be a father as Margaret Harris Hartus Anson was born in March 1919.
