Alvey Jagger

Alvey was the son of Robert and Emma Jagger and prior to joining the Army he worked on his father’s farm, Red Brick Farm on the Main Roa , the farm house is now a private residents. Alvey was sometimes called Albert and was recorded on the 1911 Census as such when he was living with his parent, and siblings Wilfred, John William, Ethel Maria, Harold and Bertha. He joined the army, 173rd Coy., Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), and fought in World War 1 where he was sadly killed on the 29th October, 1917. He is remembered with Honour on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Tynecotstraat, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
