Dorothy with Daisy and Myra Cook

Dorothy Cook was the first of the Sunday School Queens cowned on 15th May, 1961. The queen’s provided their own dress but the Church provided the cloak and crown. The cloak and crown have now been lost as they were lent to another parish and have since disappeared. The exact date that the last Queens were crowned has yet to be confirmed but it certainly continued into the early 1990s. The selection and crowning of the Queen was an important occasion within the village and as can be seen in some of the photographs many families were involved. Some of the attendants of Margaret Lamb are now well-known members of the community in 2017.
