Building Hambleton Junction

The junction was built when the decision was taken to move the East Coast Main Line away from any potential subsidence which may have resulted from local mine workings. The junction is a grade separated junction with the Selby to Leeds line passing above the main line. The junction was opened in 1983.The East Coast Main Line runs from London to Edinburgh and is now mainly used by passenger rather than freight trains.
