The Gardens

The Hambleton Gardening Club was formed in January 2015 when a group of people got together who each wanted an additional garden. The club started with 16 members who have gardens by the railway line to the north of the village. The land is owned by the Millington Brothers. The gardens are very popular and there is waiting list for any that become vacant. The Club organise an annual garden show held in the garden of the Red Lion which is open to any gardener in the village. There are several prizes awarded at the Show every year with the major prize, a cup awarded by Frank & Graham Millington in memory of Bill, their father. The cup is given to the best garden at the garden site. Each class is judged and 1st, 2nd and 3rd certificates awarded. There are cups for the vegetable, flower and cookery sections which is presented to the entrant who has received the most certificates.
