About Us!

The Hambleton History Research & Archive Association (HHRAA) was formed in March 2015 following a meeting in the Village Hall where it was decided that it was important to record the history of the village. Like all villages it is undergoing a tremendous amount of change and children of today would not realise what Hambleton village life was like years ago. To ensure that the information would be accessible to all it was decided that a website and web-based database would be the best way to preserve and add to the history for many years to come as well as including current news as Today’s News is Tomorrows History!

A Committee of 5 was elected and tasked with sourcing the funds to start a project to build the website. A Heritage Lottery Grant was awarded in September 2015 and the Hambleton History Lives – a digital archive for all, project was underway. The Heritage Lottery Funding will last until September 2019 after which we will be self-funding.

We are collecting photographs, videos, oral histories and memoirs so if you or anyone in your family have anything you are willing to share we would love to hear from you. If you would like to help, please let us know. It doesn’t matter if you don’t think you have the relevant skills as training will be provided.

The current Committee members are Celia Barnes (Chairman), Brenda Stripe (Vice Chairman), Ingrid Millington (Treasurer) and Dean Kellett (IT/Archivist) we have a vacancy for a Secretary.
